Hoe tuinbonen te planten

Direct zaaien kousenband nadat alle gevaar voor vorst voorbij is en de grond minstens 60 graden Fahrenheit is. Als je bang bent dat het seizoen niet lang genoeg is om de bonen te laten rijpen, kun je de grond opwarmen door deze een paar weken voor je laatste vorstdatum af te dekken met zwart plastic.

Zaai kousenbandzaden ongeveer 1 inch diep, ongeveer 3 inch uit elkaar. Rijen moeten ongeveer 24 inch uit elkaar worden geplaatst. Dun de planten uit tot een afstand van 6 inch als de zaailingen tevoorschijn komen. In warme zones kunt u twee of drie keer achter elkaar planten met tussenpozen van twee weken, en ook een late zomer- of herfstgewas planten.

Omdat bonen peulvruchten zijn, kunnen ze baat hebben bij het aanbrengen van een grondinoculant voordat ze worden geplant. Door de zaden met inoculant te bedekken, kunnen de planten stikstof uit de lucht opnemen om als meststof te gebruiken.

Yardlong-bonen hebben lange wijnstokken, die vaak 8 tot 12 voet lang worden. Behalve dwerg-, struikvariëteiten, moet je ze een hoge steun geven of ze langs een hek laten groeien. Zet uw trellis of andere steun in de grond tijdens het planten. Als je kunt reiken om het te oogsten, is een tipi van 7 voet een goede maat voor de bonen om op te klauteren. Maak de palen niet groter dan 2 inch in omtrek, zodat de wijnstokken kunnen vasthouden
