Bittere pompoenzaden

HOE TE GROEIEN

Stap 1: Zaai zaden ongeveer ½ inch diep in leemachtige, goed doorlatende grond die is voorbereid met oude mest of compost. Bittere pompoenzaden kan ook een nacht worden geweekt om de kieming te versnellen. Plant de geweekte zaden direct in de tuin en bedek ze met aarde. Houd een afstand van minimaal 12 tot 15 inch tussen twee planten. Leer meer over hoe zaden te ontkiemen hier.

Stap 2: Houd de grond gelijkmatig vochtig tot het moment van ontkieming. Omdat bittere kalebassen in de hete zomermaanden worden gekweekt, moet de grond regelmatig worden bewaterd zodra de zaailingen zich hebben gevestigd. Grond in containers heeft de neiging relatief sneller te drogen. Daarom is het belangrijk om de grond met de top van je vingers te blijven controleren en voorzichtig water te geven als deze bij aanraking droog aanvoelt.
